Bean, Climbing Westralia

Bean, Climbing Westralia

(Phaseolus vulgaris)

A variety bred to suit Australian growing conditions with early maturing long, fleshy, oval shaped pods that grow up to 20cm long. This variety is a vigorous grower with white seeds and good disease resistance.

When to plant: Spring and Summer.
How to grow: Sow Spring to mid-Summer in cool and cold districts, 2.5cm (1”) deep where they are to grow. Space 15cm (6”) apart in rows 1m (3’) apart. Water well particularly in dry spells. Train young seedlings up trellis, netting, bean frames or form a wooden tripod. Runner Beans develop an extensive root system so will be at their best in well dug and manured soil. Seedlings emerge 7-10 days.

Harvest: 10-12 weeks.
